Why Should Businesses Utilize Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Passwords are a continuous challenge because they have become less and less secure, causing a need for additional layers of login security. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) offers an extra step(s) and an additional layer of security to the login process. The additional form of authentication must be unique to the user and includes a code sent to phones, a fingerprint or face scan, or an actual click yes or no to access.

These authentication forms verify identity and enable team members to physically confirm access. In addition, it is an instant alert to a potential problem, compromised passwords and one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of business accounts being taken over.

Reduce the risk of potentially exposing your organization’s sensitive assets and accounts.

In order for a bad actor to gain access to an account, they would first need the username and password.  However, even if they could provide that, they would need physical access to the user’s phone to actually gain access to the account, or their unique face, fingerprint, etc. – all of which is physically impossible.  A bad actor is going to move on from your account at this point, their time is not worth the efforts of trying to compromise the well-protected account.  These layers of protection are crucial in protecting business IT.

MFA may not be convenient nor easy, but do not bypass safety policies for ease of use, these strategies are in place for a reason, PROTECT YOURSELF AND BUSINESS IT FROM SECURITY THREATS.
